Valentine's Day Gift Guide: Must love love

Wednesday, February 1, 2012

Clockwise from top left: Paper seeds, LOVE pillow, card, balloon print.

It should be stated, for the record, that I am not a friend to the holidays. Forced festivities are just not my thing. I've groused about my disdain for Halloween and Christmas here and here. Last year I was pretty well prepared to bemoan Valentine's Day, but like so many of my bitter characteristics, they've been slowly chipped away by the handy work of one very charming redhead.

I got suckered big time into Hallmark's greatest of holidays last year while working in Emerson's preschool classroom during the Valentine's party. You try to keep your pessimistic wits about you while two- and three-year olds play with paste and glitter and trade cardboard hearts for fun. It's a powerful force.

If you recall, I made necklaces out of giant gumballs and heart-shaped pins from felt. I used a hot glue gun and puffy paint in anticipation of my volunteer duties. It was a good time. So I'm officially a fan of the V-day and I thought I share a little round up of my favorite love-themed items from Etsy and otherwise independently-owned businesses. Try not to go aaawwwweee, I dare you.

P.S. Check out Courtney's beautiful watercolor DIY Valentine's. This is going straight to the top of my list of creative projects.

Clockwise from top left: Sequin shoe clips, heart onesie and leg warmers, custom bird print, heart stacking ring.

I was the same way about "forced holidays" until the boybuckets came around. It's true...the excitement is infectious.
Danielle's comment made me laugh. This is why I can't take my son to the store right now. Those character valentine's are a real downer. LOL!
Best,
Tina
