Practicing creativity: an update

Friday, January 6, 2012

Back in November I made some big plans. Remember my 30 days of practicing creativity? It went really well for the first four days. I painted birthday cards, worked on an abandoned sewing project for myself and made a table cloth for a friend. My commitment to a daily practice took off much of the pressure I usually feel when I approach projects. It felt so liberating to know I could easily pick up a project, do a bit of work, confident that I'd be back at it the following day. I was on a roll...and then this happened...we planned a very impromptu road trip to Malibu.
Which led to a stop at Randy's for donuts...
And two drunken days a Disneyland.
About five hours into the drive home, I was hit with the great plague of 2011 and my practice took a serious hit. So that's my update. I'm convinced that the daily practice approach to accomplishing a goal is ambitious, but well worth the effort. I'm starting back up now. Knowing full-well that ALT will throw me off a bit. I'm o.k. with that. I'll keep you posted.

Your little impromptu get away sounds well worth it though!

I can't wait to hear about (and see) all of your creative endeavors in the coming year... including the distractions and/or pit stops along the way =).

Happy 2012 my friend!
